Went to Montreal this weekend, partially to get out of this stifling city and partially for MUTEK. Didn’t do the immersive festival experience, but the shows I caught were really good - particularly a redemptive performance by Shlohmo and Kode9’s two-hour DJ set, which was basically what I want the soundtrack for all my future clubbing experiences to be. No Julio Bashmore, but echoes of this tune in a big room are haunting my brain. Oh, and I saw Stephen O’Malley and Tim Hecker play in a beautiful cathedral and the soundwaves shook the pews so hard it rocked me to sleep. I woke up with my molecules out of sort.
