Wrote about Rochelle Jordan for Polaris...

Discovered Rojo earlier this year and haven't been able to get her out of my mind, so I officially endorsed her record, PRESSURE, for the Polaris Music Prize 2013.  Something about her - voice, sonic aesthetic, visual - makes me feel like (FINALLY!) this is someone who can compete for this city globally. It's that lucrative crossover appeal that the Jully Black's and Melanie Fiona's have been unable to do.

Of course, she's already practically decamped to L.A. Good, interesting news though, which I feel I kiiiinda predicted: this single, "Shotgun," (check the Tamia-"Imagination"-esque video) will get an official vinyl-only release on Jacques Greene's VASE sometime in early 2013. Around the same time, she'll be opening on Jessie Ware's first string of U.S. dates.
